If i had some 2 litre engines, in various cylinder configurations and numbers, how would the characteristics differ, in terms of revs, power, torque?

For instance:

(all 2 litre, 4 valves per cylinder, as similar as possible everywhere else)

4 cylinder
V4
5 cylinder
V5
V6
V8

would the V8 have to rev higher to produce the same power, would it be less torquey than the I4 for example? I've always wondered how differing layouts affect power/torque.
