i think there is a world of difference between mike ried (rip) who played a wide jewish boy in a film, steve macfadden playing phil mitchell for eleventy million years in east enders and danny dyer always playing a cockney wide boy in 55 different films
perhaps he finds it eaiset to just do the accent?
in the same way that the skinny one from pirates of the caribean started off doing lots of different stuf and is now shoehorned into posh totty doing period drama's, don't like her either, she was so wooden she could have been part of the ship
