couple of hundred years ago mind, but all legit:

our family are directly decended from the bastard offspring of one of the royal princes on india back in the day

we can trace our history back to being at the place where sikhism was born in 1699

our grandad was from a notorious lineage of thugs (the word thug originates from his clan)

grandad was a vicous gangster back in the villiage, the most famous guy he killed was the villiage postie when he was about 18

the romours are that he had a hand in killing at least 4 others

he was the local don so the postie he killed when he was 18 was actually acredited to my youngest uncle (who was born "when it was raining", that's how formal the official records are )

he also signed up to fight in ww1, but seeing as the local docrot for the villiage was also the docrot in the field, he got medical discharge after 4 days and spent the rest of his life drawing a military pension

there's lots of "old school" land disputes going on too to this day

one of our distant relatives was cheif of the indian air force during the 70's or 80's for a while too

there are other fairly historical facts about my ancestors, but that's about as much as i've gleaned from the elders about my grandad on my dads side

on my mums side, my grandad was chauffer for the grestest indian wrestler of all time, dara singh, and was fairly minted himself

one my wife's side, one of her uncles used to employ dalip singh, aka the great khali from wwe fame now, as a labourer

i'm sure there are plenty more, but nothing that i can claim as being "heroic"
