The central locking will unlock again if a door is still open or on the latch, or if the handle is not in a lockable position.

You'll probably find it's because the passenger's door lock is gummed up, because the key's never turned in it, and/or because the door handle had hardly any use. My old Sierra was the same. Wound me up something chronic.
