I tried the mk5 rack myself too as one of the options before chooseing another route. It fits quite nicely and easily, and the rod ends can be rethreaded to accept the mk4 rod ends, etc.. IF you first remove the steering rack mounting panel altogether. It's just a few spot welds, but it's not for everyone. A new support can by the way be made out of a Sierra crossmember (using angle grinder). It has even the same bolt spacing for the steering rack monting.
