Thanks for the response, fixed the water leak at the weekend so hopefully I shouldn't get anymore wet carpet.

I checked the tilt sensor was working at the weekend by arming the system and then jacking up the rear of the car. As soon as the car was slightly raised the alarm sounded so looks like the sensor survived the water leak.
