It would help if you take a pic of the gear lever with no bellow, just to see how the gear lever points out because we might be saying the same thing. Useless taking a pic of the covered gear lever!

I don't think the Capri is shorter But it surely is a West German one. I don't know if it makes a difference...I wonder if there are more types of cross members and that would explain it all! If the car was fitted with yet a third-type cross member.... At this point a good picture of the overhead viiew of the cross member would help
