Remapping
I visited my local tuning garage yesterday to find out about remapping my focus 1.8tdci and this is what I was told, We have already mapped a couple of the brand new Ford Fucus TDCI so your should not present a problem. The basic map will produce 30 bhp. However, if we have the car for a few hours we can fine tune the map and should see nearer 40 bhp but with large torque gains (which is probably more important). You should also see aroung 10-15% improvement with the fuel economy. If its motability then the standard (factory) settings can be returned to the ECU before you hand it back (at no cost). The total cost of the conversion is £395.00 inc vat. In all honesty a modern engine does not require anywhere near the same amount of running in so anything above 1-1200 miles and it will be fine.
What do you think of this? has anyone on hear had a 1.8 remapped, I was also thinking about a tuning box instead
