To be fair, with an ATB diff it'll probably still handle sweet. Just like the old FRS did. Also, the bonnet vents look cool. Apparently some of the designers still remember Cossies and RSTs... :th:
Regarding the drivetrain:
I think they made the right decision by sticking with FWD. If they'd made it 4x4 it would have been a direct rival to Scoobies and Evo's. But I really really doubt that Ford would have been able to create an equally refined 4wd system as those used by the Jap brands in such a short time with only little experience.
It would have most likely ended up with 4x4 components from the Jag X-Type or the Volvo range. But those systems main purpose is to add traction, not to make the car go quicker round a track. I'm not entirely sure but I think both systems don't distribute any power to the rear until there's a lack of traction in the front.
Basically we would have ended up with a four-wheel-driven but incredibly heavy and still FWD like handling Focus ST that would have been slaughtered by Scoobies, Evos and probably even the old Focus RS in every single car test. Just like the Golf R32...
