I think it looks mint. Ignoring the colour, which may be ok or not, depending in the flesh.

And certainly no chavvier than 3dr's and EscCossies, looks fucking good, at least theres no fucking about trying to be sports without offending anyone as per the Focus ST, its a properly aggressive fucker like top Evo's etc.

FWD isnt ideal, but if its priced to not compete with the Evos etc it makes sense. Its more like an Astra VXR, well a bit more so, more like an Astra VXR 888 with that much power...

You only have to look at the Fiesta ST and Compare it to the Corsa VXR which is a great hot hatch hatch. Vauxhall even look better now too.

I think ford are aiming at a different market to the cossie buyers since the new ST and now this, seems aimed at the market who dont really know too much about performance (without being shot down) and people who dont really want to use it on the track!

this is the reason im turning into a bmw person, and may be the reason the rest of passionford are too.... Newer, reliable, fastish and RWD.....

not true, the XC90 uses the sme gearbox and floorplan, the current focus even has a transmission tunnel

Im 95% sure the new landrover freelander is based on the focus chassis,
thats got 4x4, and a straight 6 petrol engine. surely that system which is 50-50 split could be made work??

Its such a shame ford cant get its act together and build a car that would wipe the floor with the evo and impreza. which if we are all honest are a bit off at the moment. the X and the new scoob are both ok but compaired to the evo9 they are a bit crap.

Loving how so many people think it's going to handle really badly before it's even turned a wheel.

Also amused by how the consensus is FWD = understeer and 4x4 = perfect handling.

I don't think its gonna handle badly at all i just think that it would have handled better with 4WD. It's gonna be in competion with the wrx sti cos of the price tag so unless it can pull somthing spectactular out of the bag in the handling/performance stakes then its not gonna sell as well as it could(although if i had the money i'd buy one over a scooby anyway ). And if they had the 4x4 it would be able to take more power without the front ploughing every tree on every bend.

They'll sell every single one without a problem - Also not 'everyone' in the market place for such a car is obsessed with 4x4. You don't hear the Vauxhall boys whining that the VXR isn't 4x4. It's only because there have been a couple of iconic Fords with all wheel drive that so many are insisting that it's 'essential'.

i give it a few months before some one make a 4x4 0r rwd and it be front c0ver in fast ford or performance ford, apart form the colour tho it does look nice not fond on the lime green the zetecs have it should have stuck with blue inmo

Totally gutted, lame effort. I was so in the market for one of these, lost interest completely now. If I wanted a 280bhp Focus ST I would buy a 280bhp ST not this pathetic abuse of the RS badge.
The only decent Fords being cranked out anywhere at the moment are the Aussie FPV offerings. That 4.0 turbo straight 6 is a total weapon. Would love to go crush some Vauxhall Monaros with that.

Haldex latest generation of 4x4 can actually run in full 4x4 mode. The new Saab 9-3 Turbo X and the 9-3 2.8T Aero XWD uses this and if not totaly mistaken they both run more torque at the rear than the front.

I'm not being funny but the "vauxhall boys" have already tried putting 280bhp to the front wheels of there vectra(granted has a v6 up front but the kerb weight only differs by 130kg's) and that understeered like an absolute muther and is probably why they are putting 4WD in there insignia vxr model. I'm sure when the new astra vxr is sold in 2010 wont cost £25000 either.

Vectra VXRs dont understeer like fuck unless your a spastic and drive like clarkson "oh im gonna turn really sharply and boot it, i wonder what will happen, and when it does happen, ill turn even tighter" any FWD would understeer like that, but any RWD would oversteer and spin out, so who cares, its just shit driving.

I hate FWD, but I live in reality.
