When I first went to an Alcon from a std clutch, with a new cable the new uprated clutch was actually a lot lighter pedal wise than the one that came out.

AP 6 paddle is considerably heavier compared to the Alcon kit, ime.

You can get worn clutches relined, but I'd be wary of the springs on the plate being fubar'd and could be wrong, but not sure these are replaced so you wouldn't then have the equivalent of a new plate.

Considering how long they last for an uprated part, I'd just change the whole shebang - plate, bearing, cable & cover.
