Your insurance company doesn't come into it. Your "contract" as far as workmanship and glass product is between you and the windscreen company. Nothing your insurance company can, or will do, about it.

Incorrect glass or not, I wouldn't let a car leave without paying the excess if a glass product HAD been fitted. You would be surprised at how many people try and kick up a fuss over something, refuse to pay for it, saying they will pay when the situation has been rectified, only for them never to be heard from again, and they simply keep the wrong/incorrect screen and end up not paying for it.

It's simple retail policy across the board - you get a new product fitted, you pay for it. If it is wrong or faulty, you still pay for it. This enters you into a contract between yourself and the supplier to rectify the situation.
