sidewayz, its not the standard savage filter, its the high performance version. Also, I don't use my car anywhere other than tarmac so even if it were the case the filter was crap, I am not too worried about getting dirt inside the engine which is where a lot of your fellow Savage owners may have a point if they run on very rough and dusty terrain they may prefer enclosed filters.
