not necessarily - you can have enough pressure not to trip the light but without a constant supply of oil (air bubbles).

anyway, let's hope it was just a 'joke', although there is normally a reason to knock out the bottom end (not enough oil, oil too hot and thin etc). are m3's known for having a poor sump design that can't handle corners? the 'ring is fairly unique in that the oil moves around a lot in the sump with the cornering forces and the gradients
