most of the time that is just atmospheric pressure and micro climates.
Was at Borley church (near sudbury) (most haunted place in england) a few years back.

picture taken before the fire
as said the rectory burnt down killing many of the servents etc. its thought to stem from when a nun fell in love with a man in the village and they began a relationship. he was burried alive just outside the church grounds (where the rectory fire started) and she was bricked up alive into a wall on the rectory boundries.
All sounds a bit holywoodish, but that place is defo real bad.
anyway was walking in the church yard there and kept geting cold freezing cold patches. real freaked me. but i put it down to conifer trees. as these lined the path every 10 feet. and they must have created a micro climate in the air making it cooler near the tree!
but on the other hand. in my old bathroom where the old lady would shove me. twice a year in the summer, the bathroom would stink of stale ciggerete smoke and old ladies perfume. None of my family smoke or were old ladies!!!
after some research the bathroom used to be a bedroom and the old lady who lived there died in her sleep.
