last night i was driving home from a night out , between first and second gear the clutch pedal stayed on the floor when going for second. and wouldnt realise it self.

i turned it off for a bit and walked to the petrol station , when i returned about 5 mins later the clutch pedal was back in its normal position, but is now very hard to push down . i got the car towed home as i cannot select any gears whilst the engine is running, but when its turned off i can select them all .

obviously the clutch is fubar'd but i woulndt have thought it would stop it going into gear so whats causing this .
