Hey all,
I was out the other night and I jumped out the car at a mates house and left it running. it decided to die, as if it had ran out of fuel. So i cranked it over assuming it was a hic-up and it fired up again. As i was pulling away it would try to die when i pressed the throttle but idle if i didnt touch it. then a few more meters down the road it conked out and died. The car is a Ka with a FRST engine which I put in it last week. It has a full tank of fuel. I locked the fuel pump on by joining pins 87 and 30 on the fuel pump relay and still no luck. The pump seems to be primingg and running, though it is very quiet, but that may be because of all the fuel thats just been put in.
Today i decided to have another little look at it to see if if would fire at all. As it happens i would today. It ran for a min or two before dieing again as if it had no fuel. I fired it up again and it ran and sometimes would rev, sometimes it wouldnt. I've taken a video (very poor quality) showing at about 60 seconds when the throttle is opened the engine trying to die. the strange loud noises are the engine cutting out.
I tried disconnecting the TPS and this made no difference.
In the video it is also seen that the coolant swells up when the engine is revved. I dont believe that the head gasket has gone, and another KaRST member said that his coolant did this too. Can anyone say if its dodgey?

Any advice on the running issue? I'm thinking dying fuel pump or regulator.
Cheers
JAmes.
