Yes, of course I could tell him he was imagining things.

The brain acts interprets things that the eye sees as an input. Now it's very possible that a combination of factors can cause you to see things that simply aren't there. It only takes a minute chemical imbalance, tiredness, stress etc that can cause this kind of thing.... at it's most extreme people can suffer horribly. It's a well defined occurence.

Now be logical - what is it more likely to be? Easily explained medical occurence or a ghost? Seriously........
