bought 2nd hand after 1600miles. in bits now and will be built soon. fingers crossed

I don't think the wire rung stuff etc has caused a melted piston. I think for whatever reason it has melted a piston and that is the noise you can hear. Heard a few engines including my own which sound like a top end noise/rattle/tap etc only to turn out to be a melted piston. Have you got it apart yet ?
