I'm fairly sure that the rods (if the engine is a pre 88/post 88 the engine is an spi/it looks more like a zetec)are the same as the 1.6. I'm taking one of my 1.9's apart this weekend for the "steel rods needed" reason, so will let ya'll know what I find.
