I've got my xr on the road to iron out any running issues, and I've got a problem that i need help with.

When I give it some strap for prolonged periods the engine starts tapping and its sounds like a subaru i.e misfiring? what could this be? sticking valve, knackered oil pump? when i lay off and drive normally after a time it sorts itself out and runs fine.

Any ideas?
