As said, you won't be able to send a a single file (as in, all the photo's in a single RAR/ZIP file) via email as I don't know ANY email service that supports files that large. Even my gmail only supports 10mb per file!

Zipping or Rar'ing the files is the easiest way to send multiple files (for example, your 40 pictures) in one go, but you won't often get a huge reduction in filesize, and you certainly won't get 140mb down to 10mb...

Easiest way is to zip or rar them into a single file, then upload to a file server and send the link to the person you want to recieve them. They then simply click the link and download the file, open it and there's your 40 pics, all uncompressed and still full size.

I use Yousendit.com for this but they only allow upto 100mb when using the free trial service. I have also used http://www.axifile.com/ as they do 200mb file limits...

You just upload the file, which depending on your connection might take some time, then when it's uploaded it gives you a web link. Email this weblink to your recipient, they click on it, and then download the file. You can send the link to multiple people aswell, as it will still be hosted (read the terms as I forget how long they host it, or how long the link is active for, or if there is a restriction on the number of downloads for a single file)

Either that or upload all the pics to an online photo album such as picsaweb, Flickr or photobucket and send a link to that.....
