in the handbook it states ..
ea will replace user damaged discs for £7.50 as long as the damaged one is returned.
send cheque/postal order made payable to electronic arts ltd
remember to include full details of defect name and address and where possible a daytime phone number .

best thing to do is create an image of the disc and use daemon tools to mount it as a disc.
EA have actually said somewhere this is the best way to play the game as it removes the need for the disc to be spinning up each time you play the game ... thus removes the possibility of your pc damaging the disc.
made me wonder why they stated that , but your not the first to have a damaged disc..
