From: Argyll.... It's lonely...
Default I'm a victim of car crime......Now with added daylight!

Well. It's 4.32 ish in the morning and I've just had quite a stressful hour.

I was quite happily asleep in my bed. Then I heard a loud knock from the door. Weird. It's 3.30 am, why is there someone at my door. I open it to find a copper. Asks me if I'm me. It's 3.30 in the morning so I'm not sure if I am........ answer yes anyways, assuming my brain will catch up in a minute or two. Do you own a blue Toyota Mr2? Yes I say (brain was definately getting better by this point)

Then he said the words no-one ever wants to hear.........

"Your car has been broken into......"

Shit.......

I go get dressed, then the 2 police get some details from me. Serial number of my stereo etc etc.

I go down and I'm greeted with the worst sight in the world....

They'd smashed both the drivers window, the rear 1/4 glass, and pulled the windscreen seal out. Why the did that I'll never know, but thats smackhead junkie fuckers for you!

As you can see from the pics, they destroyed my little cup holder, which I was quite attached to.

They didn't actually get my stereo, as it's a well made Toyota, it's all bolted into the dash. They destroyed everything else around it right enough, but it's still there.

And I made the classic mistake. The face for my Sony Stereo..... Was in the glovebox. Stupid stupid stupid. Whats the point of having a face off stereo, if you keep the face in the car.... Thats a mistake I won't be making again. They also got all the CDs I had in the car, which isn't too bad as most were DIY jobs I made on the computer, but they got my Oasis 'Stop the Clocks' CD, which was a birthday present from my wife. Which was still in it's box. THAT annoyed me more for some reason....

The dash is destroyed around the centre console, air vents are in bits, the fascia panel itself is cracked. Luckily thats not difficult or expensive to replace. And thank god for the MR2 storage bin behind the drivers seat! As my Sat Nav was in there, but Mr Crackhead McFuck didn't think to look in there so it stayed. Thats now nice and safe in my Living room. All in, I'm gutted. But I could be alot more gutted.

I phoned up my insurance company, who were pretty damn brilliant. Direct Line. They can't get me glass until monday/tuesday as they don't carry it in stock for the MR2, so they offered to store my car in a secure warehouse for me until it's secure again. Magic.

I have to take it up at 8am, so i got some bin bags and trusty duct tape, and tried my best to keep the scottish weather out.

So, I'm not particularly happy. Could be alot worse though.

For some reason, the Toyota Alarm didn't make a peep.... So, as soon as it's fixed, full Cat 1 security will be going on.

So, if you're a Paisley resident, and someone offers you the face from a sony CDX-GT300S and an oasis CD, kick them in the balls, as hard as you can. Then phone me, as I will be right there to insert large metal objects in parts of them where it will be the most painful.

Thats the stereo, just inacse.

And remember, it could be you next, so make sure the face goes with you out the car. Cheers for reading.
