Default E1.6 RST™ - A 300+bhp, 160+mph 1600 CVH - Now Breaking Page 62 Update 29/01

When my engine blew up in August 2003, it has sat on my driveway since October and hasn't done alot. I have been deciding what way I should go with things. I have thought about selling it on as it was, getting it running and selling it on or doing it up properly.

This is how it used to look. I have to remind myself sometimes...

With a bit of help from my friends and alot of encouragement, plus nagging from the parents about getting shot of it, I have decided to go all bufty and try my hand at concours. Seems only right really as it is the only thing I haven't tried in my RST yet. This is how it has sat since October, not even sheeted up.

Damo V came over Monday night, and after I got my haircut we took it to his Dad's garage so he can begin welding and painting. I had already stripped most of the car and didn't think there was much left to take out, until I got my digicam back...

Now, I knew it had a bit of rust here and there;

Mainly here...

...Here...

...Here...

...And some in here...

In a few short days, Damo and his Dad, but mainly Damo have cracked on well and truely. I was very surprised at how much they had done.

After the battery tray was removed, this was the hole...

Fusebox didn't escape the rot either...

Things start looking better...

A little bit more work is needed on the Engine Bay before it can be painted, there are a few cracks to seal up and some holes to be welded. Then it is on to the inner Bulkhead and Floor Plan, then on the the arches, and thats pretty much it before it is totally resprayed and ready to have the engine fitted.

The arches aren't too sad which I am pleased about, and the sills are fine. Cracks in the Floor Pan look like they were caused by some pleb jacking the car up in the wrong place. There is a dent on the Boot Floor which seems to have been caused by a bit of conrod or block (thank you Vulcan)!

More pics to come later in the week.
