Absolutely agree! the people who think it's expensive have no idea of how much time it takes, not to mention sourcing some of the parts and the minimum order quantities involved, proper tooling etc.
The difference between sticking a few connectors on wires with a pair of pliers and insulating tape is a far cry from building decent quality RELIABLE looms.
