When should it come on/go off.

At the moment, the light comes on and goes off when the handbrake is put on or off. Can't think of it ever being any different, but the garage doing the MOT is saying that they're gonna have to call Ford to double check on it??

Someone mentioned that since it's an older RS, the ABS system is mechanical rather than electrical, so it is working fine?

Anyone know a definite answer?
