it was terrible - but we were pioneering technology then and we can pass on our knowledge to the developing world to help them to not make the same mistakes

having said that, we all hear the statistic about china building 2 coal powered power stations a week - but that is not a verified figure, and we don't know what technology they are using. coal burning does not necessarily mean lots of dirty clouds of smoke - we have them over here and nobody goes mental over them
