Depends who and where he works for - if its a local authority he should see the occupational health team too, maybe try counselling, also they should look at alternative work, the council dr can advise not to return to his post or sector etc therefore he would be "at risk" and get 26weeks notice in which the authority & himself should actively seek suitable work on a similiar pay scale blah blah If he works for bodgit & scarper forgot the above.
