how can you get a verbal warning for being ill????

back in my p/t days at Asda i got disciplined for being off 3 times in 26 week rolling period!!
1 was in hospital for blood clot in leg so had a doc's line.
1 was broken hand bone again with docs line
i forget the 3rd but all were legitimate and i got done! now if i had previous i'd have been sacked for being sick!
