of course u can be sacked if you dont have a valid excuse for being off........if someone had 3 months for in my conpany they would be out end of. 3 months is a long time unless you are really really ill
and they can only make your position redundant if they dont fill it within 6 months.

but if you have a genuine sick note and medical reason, its pretty shitty to just make someone redundant, especially if theyre awaiting an op or similar and cant genuinely do anything until theyre better
i was on the sick from my job due to my back, i was finished in january, but so where the rest of my team, i wont be fit to work until ive had my operation..... though being off for nearly 2yrs i couldnt really complain, after 3mths though id be pretty peeved!
