Default overheating

Ok its not a Ford but its an odd one!

My other half's MGF has had an overheating problem which I posted about on here before but I can't find the old thread... but anyways

So far I have replaced the following:

Thermostat - modified to allow bypass
Radiator
Pressure Cap

and as of today the HG (uprated Land Rover spec)

Guess what!

It still isn't right!!!!!!! Its the same as before

Leave the engine to idle and the engine comes up to temp. Then the temp increase to the point where the radiator fan kicks in. This doesn't cut out and the temp guage keeps rising (along with the level in the header tank).

So its definitely going to over heat if left to its own devices.

The crazy thing is that if you increase the revs to say 1750 (or even 4000! it makes no odds so long as your above idle) the temp guage and level in the header tank drops down to normal... Let it idle and this just repeats!

I'm left with thinking its the water pump even though it looks perfect and feels fine it's the only part I haven't replaced!!!
