Default cvh vernier pulley

Hi there people, ive just fitted a kent cvh32 cam to a spare head ive got but im having a little bit of trouble working out where
the timing mark is on the vernier pulley.
If i put the standerd pulley on, the key way is at the bottom and the point on the pulley lines up with the timing mark on
the head but if i then take it off and put the vernier on the advance-retard marks are at the bottom and id of thought
they would be at the top to aid timing it up.
what am i doing wrong if any thing or am i just being stupid ?
thanks in advance for any advice given.
ps.its a kent cams vernier to go with the cam if it makes any differance.
