Please Help Me!

Can i replace my gearbox on my ST200 with a gearbox from a mk1 mondeo V6 ghia x?

I have been told that it might not work, because, i have been told by a local garage that it could be run through the ecu!! Eh?

Please help, i havan`t had a car for about 2 weeks now!!!
