yup they are, more or less. since the gas is pressurised before it gets a squeeze by the piston your raising the max pressure before ignition. This has the effect of increasing the volumetric efficency, following to the OTTO cycle.

I think its about 3.74psi of boost increases the CR by 1. (might be 3.47)
