I know the combo you tried, it's the Combo Rectifier, and it's a 50 watts. But mesa watts have always been a LOT louder.... so imagine my 150 ones
John, that head is the one we had in the shop - we had no cab for it tho (someone bought it) so it was hooked into a Peavy cab Never got used - I preferred the Combo Rectifier myself - 2x12 I think it was. Had a two step pedal thingy - for clean/channel and solo boost, and even with a pony Epiphone Les Paul it still thundered Sounded insane when the guitar guy brought is ESP Explorer (lawsuit model ) in and gave it some drop-D "Sad But True"

And yes, Mesa watts have awlays been louder

That said, I recently went to his (the guitarist guy) new shop where Jim Marshall (yes, THE Jim Marshall) was there and his guys were doing an unveiling of the new Marshall range, including the JCM and new JTM gear, along with the Monder Vintage amps - sound VERY good indeed!!!! Always been partial to a JCM900 myself
