Im not aware of any test in terms of quarter mile or top speed etc that gives you a decent approximation of the peak BHP of a car, all it will tell you about is the far more useful metric of your average BHP in the part of the rev range you are using for the run.

To find your peak BHP, a set of rollers or a dyno is pretty much your only option, although personally I dont normally bother as the figure is of little real interest to me.
