Default Engine Conversion & Noisy Fuel Pump

As you probably know due to my recent posts i've put the 2.0DOHC into a 1.8CVH sierra... anyway here's my problem.

As the 1.8CVH used the mechanical pump on the head and the 2.0DOHC uses an electrical pump i've had to fit a pump taken from a cavalier turbo. Thing is, i've put it in the engine bay for now but it's buzzing like a nutter, louder than the engine ..

Just want to know why this is?.. is it because it's so far away from the tank that it's finding it hard to "fill" the pump hence why it's a lot louder as it's not under as much load and pumping faster?

is it because i need one of those fuel damper things which i think the cavaliers are fitted with?

I don't think it's an electrical problem as it's driven off a relay so it's either on or off.

Any advice needed and appreciated before i start getting mank again under the car and start cutting fuel lines
