No time at all unless you SORN the car. It's all computerised and you will get an automatic £80 fine winging it's way to you within 2 weeks.
No your wrong.... i've taxed my every day car 3 weeks after the tax was due (i did however tax it to carry on from where it left off) as i was away on a skiing holiday.

Never had a problem.... and as above you have 28 days as long as your not driving it on the road and if you were you could probably get away with a week out of date.
Just because you got away without a fine, doesn't make it that you are right!
I don't get that statement? If none of us got fines then he isn't wrong is he?
