I don't think anyone can even comprehend what those guys had to go through. The First World War was a complete hash, no tactics, just slaughter. People drive down the road and their biggest worry of the day is getting to work late, getting stopped by police and petrol. Its pathetic to think that the world we live in now thinks such menial things are the be all and end all of their lives.

As far as I'm concerned, the people who survived and sadly those who died were heroes. There is no other word for them. They put their own lives on the line day in day out, losing friends, family and 'brothers' through conflict. Even though they say the real heroes were the men who died in the war, I have the upmost respect and time for those men. Those were the days when men were real men.

I had my 2 minutes silence yesterday and today, but sadly couldn't watch or take part in any services.

Its a sad shame to look at the world we live in today, really is. People slag off the British army for being in Iraq, when really, its not their choice. Neither was it the choice of the men who went to fight in the Great wars. Its a shame the press puts such low faith in our men out there.

Looking at the numbers for The second World War is enough to show how much this time HAS to be respected by all nations.
