a knock link is a device used for hearing knock or det on an engine. I have never seen one in operation, but i assume it has a series of lights that light up and when the sensor detects knock on your engine a warning light is put on to warn the driver. Its a bit like having det cans but without the need for them on your head, its a gauge with a microphone type device, listening to your engine for you and warning you at or just before the critcal moment.
