Doug,
The only point I was making is that the car needs to be tested to the most extreme speed / load that it is ever likely to achieve, any less and the second you go above that - GAME OVER. This is something I have had happen in my own experience, so know how important it is .

Tested to worse case scenario, it doesn't matter WHAT you throw at it, it will be safe. This is why I always think the BEST place to map is on a long runway and NOT the road. Since sticking with that, I haven't had any engine failures....
