Wondering if someone can help, just over the last week or so my car Escort Si 1996 seems to be chugging, for example when I put the accelerator down when standing it splutters then revs up as normal and I've noticed when I drop into 2nd or any lower gear it judders then goes ok...

I've just moved in a new house so don't want to spend £100's and was wondering if someone could possible help
