As above :

Shorter/standard stroke engine proves usually to be a better quicker revving engine due to the speeds of the moving pistons being less of something that has been stroked so helping it travel a lesser distance so being able to turn over more quickly

EG a sorted ford V8 @ 289 cu in (4.7lts) standard stroke with modified/uprated internals will rev to 9500rpm quiet easily at 500bhp

where as

a stroker ford v8 @ 347 cu in (5.7lts) with a custom crank, rods etc will only rev to about 6500 rpm comfortably but produce the same horsepower but an extra 50-75 lb-ft of torque
