Default mains/ oil pump issues

ok had this engine for a while, when it 1st started it would be spot on but after a minute it would lose oil pressure (lamp flickering) and after a few seconds of this it would get a tad growly (not knocky but just noisier)
now i figured its gonne need a grind and some shells (like the other 4!!! engines in my shed ) but since ive taken the caps off the shells and almost perfect as is the crank, im happy to leave them in as they look good but that brings to to my 1st question
the shell (pic) seems to be over 1 side a bit too much, you agree??, its located propperly in the indent, while im on the subject the top shell is grooved but the lower 1 is solid, this right?? been a few months since i stripped a cvh and i cant remember

seems to sit further 1 side than teh other huh

and viewed the other side

top shell groved

and as for the oil pump, its fooked hence im hoping that while it caused a drop in pressure it will also be the cause of the noise thus the lump will be fine with a new un fitted

engines been together for very few miles so dont wanna split the head off or have the crank messed with too much as its recently been done
