skinny tyres? 225 fill the 8.5" wheel niceley, and the fact that they came with them on already, having been fitted on an M3 proves they are a good combination

I dunno, I think with an 8.5 wheel surely it should at least have a 245 width. I mean, I had 225's in the front of my 3dr.
IMHO, put the 225 in the front and go wider in the rear and really fill that rim.
