I'm not going to be moving quite yet but we have a 4 bedroom semi with a garage on a private estate worth around £210,000, been in this house for nearly 10 yrs so time to move to something bigger & detached with a double garage in the near future.
My wife has her office based at home & travels into London or milton keynes once or twice a week for meetings & i am a BT engineer so it doesn't really matter where we move as long as its no more than 2hrs or so from London by train, she can work from home & i just transfer to a new patch.
The thing is where we live Kent is very expensive, been looking at houses upto £300,000 max & where we live you could just about get a 4 bed with double garage but it will be a new build on an estate with a poxy little garden. If you want rural or a bit of ground round you for £300,000 your only get a 2 bed bungalow thats falling down

or maybe something that needs a lot of work or another semi detached.
Went through several areas last night on line looking at houses & it seems to me that the cheapest place within 2 hrs by train to London to live is Norfolk, for £250 - £300,000 you can get some very nice 4 bed properties rural with nice big gardens that aren't overlooked by any neighbours. I can't believe what you can get for your money in that area. The area's that interest me more are around Downham market,Swaffham,Wisbech. Why are they so cheap & their seems to be no shortage of nice rural /village houses set in good grounds, you would never buy anything like that where we are for £300,000.
