It can be uprated and isn't that bad. Theres a few rs2000's 4x4 running with 300bhp plus, one from a 2300cc I4 turbo and a rebuilt transfer box from CTS.

There was a 4x4 fiesta running mondeo gear a while back with 300bhp and no problems.


The mondeo transfer box is much stronger than the rs2000 due to the viscous coupling in the rs2000 being a bit of a weak point if not scrupulously maintained.


I'd agree that cossie bits are so much stronger though!!

Transverse 4wd does not need as much fabrication around the bulkhead area and tunnel in my car.
