theres a socket that is designed for rounded off nuts,,,,,, it works a little like a wasy out, the ends taper in a anti clockwise direction and then it allows it to grip cause it gets smaller,,,,,,,,, but 6 sided sockets are a nust have tool and soo many people dont have em,,,,,, the 12 sided are just to make it easier to locate the tool on the nut
