Sorry but even if you modfied yours, due to a 5 speed box your top end wont be miles off a standard ST's
it wont be long before the st is modded and with it been pratically the same engine as the S60R theni'm afraid 300 bhp isnt going to be to hard to get out of these!
morph, your wasting your time. Some FRS owners are upset for some reason. Dont know why. Is it because of the ST .
My brothers got the FRS and he said he would not buy one because he might regret his actions. I THINK NOT!.

I think you have hit the nail on the head mate!
I had an RS and it was a fantastic car but for me the interior, which i had to see every day was just too much and the amount of feedback the steering gave was just too intense! i like a fine balance of comfort and performance and quality. the RS was all performance and none of the other two things. I am not slating the RS as i expect on any track day the RS would be a hard car to beat even if you had an ST. but i dont go to tracks that often and i would rather have a car that handles alot better on our british roads made of adverse cambers and rutts and potholes where an ST would inspire that extra bit of confidenence out of most drivers.

I cant understand why these RS drivers are getting there backup so much over the ST!
My conclusion would be that deep down they may actually have a feeling that the ST is a better car! who knows? all i can say that on most country roads my way, the golf gti was just inspiring to drive over the horrible road surface, where as the RS was just too hard work to keep control of!
and if the gti was that good i cant wait to try the ST down the same roads.
i managed to peak 100mph around these roads in the new GTI, in the RS i could only push to about 95mph. the road is bad condition and has about about 8 right bends and about 10 left tight bends over a 2mile distance only short amount of straights on this road,
This just shows you that a softer suspension setup can make a car handle better on broken road surfaces
